Since its inception five years ago, Pasadena
has become a leader among Kaohsiung's fine dining restaurants.
Located on HeTi Road, north of YuCheng, Pasadena offers its
patrons exquisite French cuisine in an upscale yet comfortable
environment.
The set lunch menu, served daily from 11:45 a.m. - 2 p.m.,
comes with appetizer, soup, main course, coffee or tea and
dessert. Customers can choose from ten entrees including the
Pan-fried Fish-of-the-Day with Confit Tomato, Lemon and Olive
(NT$600), Roasted Spring Chicken with Herbs (NT$820), or the
Beef Tenderloin with Confit Onion and Port Wine Sauce (NT$1450).
Pasadena also offers a lunchtime pasta menu with soup or salad,
dessert, tea or coffee and a choice of one of their 10 pasta
dishes. Prices range from NT$380 for the Squid Ink Pasta to
NT$650 for the Capelini with Fish, Sea-Urchin and Lemon Dressing.
At 6 p.m. Pasadena opens its doors for dinner.
The restaurant boasts an impressive collection of international
wines that vary from NT$1200 for a bottle of their Antinori
House Wine to NT$38000 for a bottle of 1982 Chateau Margaux.
The set menu, which ranges form NT$1200 to NT$4200, has an
array of choices for each of its four courses. The King Prawn
and Peach topped with a Gazpacho Sorbet is a delicate combination
of flavours and is an excellent start to any meal. Soups include
Chilled Asparagus with Sea Urchin, Trotter Broth with Lima
Bean, Cream of Broccoli with Smoked Salmon or Fish Broth with
Seafood Mousslien. Recommended main courses include the Roasted
Bresse Pigeon, imported from France, the Lamb Chop Topped
with Mixed Nuts and Red Wine Sauce, and the Poached Cod with
Garlic Purree and Anchovies Sauce. The high quality of fare
continues through to dessert as Pasadena has its own on-site
bakery and pastry chef catering to both the restaurant and
an attached pastry and coffee shoppe.
