Almost
certainly Taiwan's very first lounge-bar-style dim sum
establishment, Mongkok--a co-operative venture with the
Hotel Holiday Garden--seats up to 120 patrons at conventional
dining tables and comfortable sofas. The chef, specially
brought in from Hong Kong, creates delicate and inexpensive
dim sum dishes. Items are priced at NT$38 per serving and
up. The lighting is easy on the eye, yet not so gloomy
you can't see what you are eating. The decor is classy
but simple, and according to the owners, the style of music
played will be lounge and more lounge. Drink choices include
plenty of alcoholic and non-alcoholic (teas, coffees, juices)
options. As the name indicates, this place will be open
24 hours per day, seven days a week, making it suitable
for daytime gatherings; romantic evening meals; and post
pub-crawl snacking in the wee hours. Enter through the
hotel (located on the corner of LiuHe and ChengGung roads),
or by the double doors that face LiuHe 2nd Road. --By Steven
