A
Lady's Perspective
By
Amanda Forbes Translated by Iva Huang
After
being approached to write an article about
ladies' nights, I realized that the first thing
I had to accomplish was to pick three or four
places that actually have an evening catering
to ladies in particular. This proved more difficult
than expected.
One of the few places with a specific, designated ladies' night is the
Pig & Whistle. "It's ladies' night at the Pig, and look at all
of the guys together out on the dance floor," one semi-regular customer
said to me. This is sometimes the case when a discount is offered to
girls--lots and lots of guys come through the door, but not so many ladies.
But, then again, their ladies' night is on a Wednesday, and the Pig & Whistle
is a great place to go mid-week if you don't want to go seven whole days
without enjoying some serious nightlife.
Later
we hit the WESTERN COWBOYS (335, SzWei 4th Rd.; tel
(07) 330-2668) for some fabulous blue margaritas,
as recommended by a friend. At this point, we were
only pretending it was ladies night, but those drinks
really did make the night a success. The place was
packed, the music was good, and the staff was very
friendly.
The ladies had a blast--and that's the whole point of a having a ladies
night, right? A firm believer that with the right attitude and a great
group of friends, a person can make fun wherever they go, looking for
a ladies night only confirmed one idea of mine: I don't need to get a
discount on anything to have a good time, which is just as well, because
not so many places in Kaohsiung will offer me one. |
