Fall,
2007 ISSUE IS OUT NOW!
Letter From The Publishers
Greetings Southerners,
After a month (and a bit), this, the first issue of the new FYI South Lifestyle Quarterly Magazine is in your hands. On the exterior, we've had a bit of a facelift and, as you read inside, you'll notice that we're covering a lot more places than we ever have before. As a quarterly magazine, we've had more time to search Kaohsiung and beyond for great places to eat, play and discover. But since FYI South now only comes out ever three months, it's your job to hold onto it tightly, lest your covetous friends try to steal your... precious.
While you wait in anticipation for the December issue to arrive, please take the time to try out all six restaurants we're introducing in this month's Dining section. Next, we decided to have another go at an Italian food roundup to let you (re-)discover some places that know what they're doing. Our resident Top Chef, Stefan Martin, reports on Kaohsiung's amazing traditional markets, where some of the purest and freshest ingredients are bought by everyone from gourmet restaurants to just plain marvelous Mom. Besides our whopping five Nightlife reviews, Victoria Seto has a new Offbeat article titled "Spotted". Take a look on page 25 and see if you were captured by her keen lens and observant pen.
Our cover story explores different opinions on what constitutes a romantic getaway-if you've got NT$24,000 to spend in 24 hours, that is.
David Chou, a new contributor, shows us where some of the best shops in town are to deck yourself out in the latest fashions from Kyoto to Tokyo.
Finally, Don sets us on fire (Ex), Victoria has stories of hospital pains, Monica gives us much ado about Moon Festival, and Josie says now is the time to get to Kenting!
On a more serious note, I'd like to offer our prayers and condolences to the family of Chiu Mei-Yun, in the circumstances of her tragic death. May you find peace wherever you are.
