        The owner, Roger--well known to Tainan bar-goers as the veteran proprietor of Dirty Roger--works hard to please his customers and is doing an admirable job. He's made this a good place to get an early morning coffee, and those with a hearty appetite will not leave disappointed. The bagel sandwiches are huge and come with a green salad, bread, and a drink. The menu changes often under the supervision of Andy Kux, the Austrian proprietor of renowned Tainan restaurant Andi's Party Corner. Bagel combos are priced from NT$68 to NT$128; a can of beer or a cappuccino is an extra NT$10. Large windows mean the interior has plenty of natural light. For those who don't mind traffic noise, there are tables outside on the covered sidewalk. For NT$10 more Roger will deliver, and--as the name suggests--you can also order food to take away. --By Richard Matheson
