Sheng Image Equipment Store is well known in Tainan
as a place to buy quality camera gear. Owned and
operated by a husband-and-wife team, they have been
in business for 15 years. The store came into being
because the husband was interested in cameras and
studied camera repair in North Taiwan. Asked why
Hrong Sheng is so well known, the husband says: "We
rarely advertise, so I guess it's just word of mouth.
We sell all new products so we can fully guarantee
everything we sell whereas other stores may sell
products that are questionably imported." The
shelves are stocked with top brands, such as Lowepro
camera bags, Gitzo and Manfrotto tripods, Leica,
Canon, Nikon, Olympus SLR cameras, compact cameras,
as well as some brand new collector cameras such
as a Minilux. Both digital and film cameras are sold,
digital cameras nowadays accounting for more than
95 percent of the store's business. Camera peripherals
are sold as well, from lenses and filters to digital
storage and film. Professional and consumer films
(120mm-35mm black and white, chrome, and print) are
stored in a large refrigerator, assuring freshness.
They process slide film for NT$75 a roll and they
also sell 4x5 slide film. Darkroom supplies and chemicals
are available. |
