VISITOR RATINGS & REVIEWS Looking
for somewhere to cycle which is neither murderously hilly nor cluttered
with pollution-spewing cars? ShinHua--conveniently close to Tainan
City--has just unveiled a new network of bicycling routes. The shortest
of the five trails, the four-kilometer-long Blue Route, encircles
Hutoupi, a small reservoir popular with picnickers. Bicycles can
be hired here. The Yellow Route (9.2 km) takes visitors through
ShinHua's downtown and then out into the countryside. The Purple
(9.2 km), Red (8 km), and Green (7.8 km) routes are almost entirely
rural, and skirt fruit farms, a golf course, and a research forest
belonging to National Chunghsing University. Gradients are gentle,
and the scenery is very pleasant. Suitable for families. -- By Steven
