Dirty Roger's Superbar is a Tainan institution,
one of the oldest bars still in business. The legend
began when Roger opened his first bar with just one
light and a single fridge. Since opening that first
bar, the owner's optimistic outlook on life, warm personality,
and genuine love for meeting new people, has helped
the Superbar stay successful despite moving locations.
The current incarnation of Roger's is modest like the
man himself. The decor is a bit ragged, worn and musty
-- like a favourite book. A quick glance around the
room and you know where Roger spends his money. He has
a deep passion for music and motorcycles; the LPs, CDs
and motorbikes that fill the bar reflect this passion.
Drop in and he'll not hesitate to join you in a conversation
about either; he's happy to share his experiences. If
you're not up for conversation there is Internet available
through the three computers at the bar. Alternatively,
bring your own and hook up to the very fast wireless
connection.
If you want more traditional pub fun, hit the foosball
tables upstairs. A night at Roger's is always filled
with good beer, good music, and good conversation with
either Roger or any of the other friendly people who
tend to gravitate around Roger's personality. If you
want to meet some of his best friends, come on one of
the open mic nights (held every three weeks on Fridays;
ask Roger for info).
Roger's selection of beers is at least
one thousand times smaller than his CD collection. There
are only three: Budweiser, Heineken or Corona. Take
your pick for NT$150 and get a shot of tequila as well.
