About Dancing At PASSION
Passion
is dope. Phat. Sweet. It¡¦s a dose of hip-hop aesthetic, spun with
electronic house music, booming through an upscale club.
Few
might notice the goldfish pond by the entrance, or the Kenting
sand lying beneath the glass of the bar counter, or that the
colored panes beside the DJ booth bubble with 60 different
programmed patterns. Most, however, do notice the dance floor,
the curvy custom-built furniture, and the quiet glow of the
15th floor balcony.
People
here seem to have the big beat sound built into them. They
might carry a casual hip-hop style, with caps pulled down
over their eyes, stylish glasses, eye-catching party outfits,
or fat-laced sneakers--but no stilettos. These people come
to dance, and a lot of them do it well. Jumps and kicks synchronize
with the DJ¡¦s bass so that the whole floor moves in rhythm. |
 |
Passion
has brought to Kaohsiung world-class DJs from Japan, the UK, and
France. Co-owner DJ Paul Energy has himself played around the world
with headliners.
 |
A
night at Passion does not come cheap. The cover charge is between
NT$600 and NT$800 on the weekend, and a simple glass of water
costs NT$100. But if you acquire a taste for Passion, you can
buy into one of two membership schemes (NT$6,000 to NT$10,000).
These provide perks like free admission on weekdays, discounts
on weekends, large amounts of free drinks, and access to the
very comfortable VIP lounge. |
FYI South Magazine is required by law to remind you not to drink and drive. |
