A spacious new establishment near Dawan, Ming
Sheng is an exceptionally affordable all-you-can-eat buffet
restaurant. If you eat in, you'll pay NT$90 per person on
weekdays, NT$110 on weekends and holidays. For this you get
unlimited visits to the fifty-odd items on offer--including
fake meats ("chicken" legs and slices of "ham"),
salad, steamed dumplings, and sticky rice. There's a choice
of soups, fruit, and soft drinks. Plus, of course, plenty
of greens. Lunchboxes to take out are either priced by weight,
or are NT$50 each if you go for a standard "fish,"
"chicken," or "ham" box. Like many other
inexpensive eateries, there's a large television that seems
permanently on. But here at least the sound is turned down
so you can relax to the soothing Buddhist music. So if you're
ravenously hungry, or seeking something healthier than your
usual fare, Ming Sheng might be the place for you. The location
is not downtown, but neither are the prices.
