Dae Jang Geum
Named after one of the most popular Korean soap operas to
air on Taiwanese television, Dae Jang Geum, which opened in
2004, is an unpretentious, simply decorated establishment
that offers a wide choice of Korean dishes. You'll find barbecued
pork, beef, chicken, fish, and mushroom items (priced from
NT$300 to NT$350); special sets for four people (NT$990 or
NT$1200) and two people (NT$600 or NT$680); plus various cheaper
dishes for individuals, such as baked rice with or without
cheese (from NT$150). Soups start at NT$90. The service is
friendly; as the waitstaff place a long-handled spoon, a pair
of flat metal chopsticks, a bowl of soup, and small portions
of pickles to your table, they'll remind you that you are
very welcome to help yourself to more pickles if you wish.
Soft drinks are NT$20 each; a large bottle of beer costs NT$100,
while a bottle of Korean liquor will set you back NT$220.
Menus are in Chinese and Korean; the restaurant is located
near the intersection of LinSen and DongNing roads.
