        Part of an islandwide chain that has found success in Taipei and Kaohsiung, the new Chiayi branch of Sushi Express is a 10-minute walk from the train station, while the new Tainan eatery is a stone's throw from that city's transportation hub. Called a "kaiten-zushi" restaurant in Japanese, or "revolving sushi," the assembly-line moving dish platform brings a variety of delicious sushi, sashimi and salad rolls into view again and again. All the customer has to do is reach out and take what he or she likes, washing it all down with a glass of cold beer or free tea. Each dish is priced at NT$30, and among the options are tuna, salmon and octopus, plus salmon eggs and sliced herring. --By Dan Bloom
