A tasteful Japanese-style coffee shop and eatery which doesn¡¦t charge the Earth, Saka Moto Shoku To (the Chinese name looks very Japanese to Taiwanese people) is a pleasant refuge from the traffic and noise of ShiMen Road. The interior is stylish and well lit. Reading material is provided - and surely enjoyed, given the quiet, contemplative character of this place. The menu lists hot pots (NT$230 to NT$350), ramen dishes (NT$110 or NT$130), dumplings, and smaller items. Coffees cost between NT$90 and NT$120; teas are similarly priced. Slurpies (chocolate, mango, and other flavors) go for NT$100 or NT$120; shaved ice desserts are also available. -- By Steven Crook
