Now that comfortable weather (aside from some excessive rain) and the April Fools season have finally arrived, we can hopefully break out our tight, cool party clothing.
Miss summer weather, beaches and great partying? If so, you might want to head south and get ready to party in Kenting. While you're in Kenting you may be interested to know that Spring Scream will be taking place on the 3rd, 4th and 5th. Tons of live bands will be playing, making this a MUST-go event if you want to partake in one of the biggest parties of the year. To save a few bucks, organizers are arranging a bus (NT$1,500/round trip). Tickets run from NT$1,190 to NT$1,690. For more compete details go to www.springscream.com
If the High Speed Rail is simply too slow for you, you may want to head over to China White and check out their new Salsa Parties. Coincidentally, also starting April 3rd and on every Friday night are their salsa dancing parties, where DJ Xango (Chan-Go) will be playing salsa, merengue, bachata and cha-cha styles. The party is from 10:30 p.m. to 2 a.m.; if you manage to get there at 10 p.m., you can partake in their free introduction to salsa dancing lesson. The door fee is NT$300 and includes one free drink. For further details, you can go to www.taipeisalsa.com.
Every Friday Night TONE 56 presents "Ladies Night" with live entertainment, NT$99 cocktails for the ladies all night long, and the rock'n'roll band LOADED, which hits the stage from 10 p.m. till midnight. On Saturday, "Blues Vibrations" plays its tastefull blues numbers from 10 p.m. till midnight, but it doesn't stop there. Happy Hour goes from midnight till 2 a.m. every Saturday, and Sundays is the "Acoustic Jam Night" from 7 to 10 p.m., with no cover charge!
For those searching for rock 'n' roll, VU Live House has done it again. On April 18th, starting at 11 p.m., The Deadly Vibes, New Hong Kong Hair City, and The Blue Trucks will combine forces to rock your pants off. VU Live House offers a top-of-the-line sound and stage system, guaranteeing a great-sounding show. The door will run you NT$350 with one free drink. If this style of music catches your fancy, be sure to head over to Ximending.
On April 25 at Roxy Vibe, an interestingly-named Indie night, "Do Not Taunt the Octopus", will be taking place. The party will supply the best indie dance/rock/electro that you'll ever dance to. The door fee is NT$300 and includes two free drinks. Check out www.roxy.com.tw if you want to learn more.
