Fun Around Town By Scott Moses Translated by Ann Lee The season of Santa Claus and Chanukah Harry is quickly approaching as we once again prepare ourselves for another year of cheer and difficult nights to remember. So get ready for a month of fun-filled, delightful events. For those of us who just can't get enough of the world's finest DJs, it's our lucky day. Ferry Corsten, consistently voted one of the top 10 DJs on the planet, is currently making his way around the globe. He will be rolling into Taipei after a show in Brazil, so If techno is your thing, be sure to check him out. The Dutch DJ will be spinning his newest techno beats over at Luxy (201, ZhongXiao E Rd, Sec 4, 5F) on Dec 12th, as well. For more information check out luxy-taipei.com or his web page ferrycorsten.com On Dec 20th, look for "Seductive Mind Tricks: the comedy hypnosis show with an adult twist". According to Doctor Brain David Phillips, the night's performer, "Mind Tricks" will contain a mixture of "experimental shows that will provide comedic entertainment while exploring some more unusual trance phenomena and contexts." Although I'm not quit sure what that means, it certainly sounds mysterious and entertaining. The show will be in both Chinese and English and held over at the Live Comedy Club Taipei (24, TaiShun St, in the Shi Da area). The door fee is NT$350. They will be playing over at the Party Room (138, BaDe Rd, Sec 4, 12F). It might be worth checking out, even if just for the after party, which will be held just down the hall over at Plush (138, BaDe Rd, Sec 4, 12F). Apparently the after party is free for show-goers.
