Roxy and owner Ling Wei (凌威) are legendary in the rock music scene, with the first pub opening in 1982. The new Roxy Rocker is a return to roots, a pub with a strong focus on the music and especially Rock n' Roll. If you love vinyl, go upstairs to their special sound-proofed room with seating and a dedicated vinyl DJ who spins the over 10,000 albums that Ling Wei collected over 20 years--and be sure to make some requests! Downstairs in the main area is another DJ, with a similarly large CD collection. The staff and especially the DJs are knowledgeable music lovers with a passion for individuality, so new learners and old fans alike should find a lot to learn and enjoy here. Bottled beers are NT$180 to NT$220 and cocktails are NT$200 and up. --By Courtney Donovan Smith, translated by Ann Lee
A. Rock paraphernalia and imagery adorn the walls, like this central pillar decorated with imagery from the Led Zeppelin album Houses of the Holy.
B. Owner Ling Wei shows Taiwan Fun some of his more than 7000 CDs and one of the magnificent Duevel Sirius Omni-Directional speakers that cost over NT$900,000 a pair--these are serious music lover speakers!
