FIZZ is a comfortable lounge bar that makes patrons feel right at home. The people that run this place, Romain and Mardy, are a cross-cultural couple Taipei-ers dedicated to providing Taipei-ers with a place to chill out in the middle of the city. For an extra bit of fun, the couple's dog, Do Re Mi, will greet you at the door when you come in and walk you to the exit as you leave!
Mardy has 10 years of bartending experience and met her French husband, Romain, through work. Romain is an experienced wine-taster and a disc jockey. This winning combination provided the perfect backgrounds to start up FIZZ. The atmosphere is peaceful; the elegant chandeliers, candelabras and warm colors meld nicely with the sweet aroma of a cocktail in-hand. Velvet sofas and a homey feel make customers never want to get up and leave.
To keep the night interesting, Mardy recommended two very different drinks. The first one, called China Blue (NT$250), is made with a combination of Blue Curacao, grapefruit juice, and lychee liqueur. The cold, blue color is not as sour as it looks, and is surprisingly sweet and smooth. The second cocktail was the Spumony (NT$200). Made with Campari and orange juice, this drink is sweet and sour with a slightly bitter aftertaste.
On two Saturdays every month, FIZZ hosts a DJ party, featuring their friends Sinister Sound Syndicate. On these nights, beer is on special for only NT$100. Other nights, they have buy-one-get-one-free specials before 9 p.m. and NT$88 cocktails and whiskey drinks after 11 p.m. FIZZ also rents out space for private parties. Prices start at NT$10,000 for up to 30 guests. Apart from alcoholic drinks, you can also get a few finger foods like made-to-order pizzas and sandwiches.
