Tweaked with curiosity by the name, we decided to check out Shadow Fashion Lounge and try to determine how it got it's unusual name. It's hard to miss the highly-visible "Shadow" sign (which is hardly lurking in the shadows), which hangs ceiling-to-floor on the Living Mall's fourth floor. Behind it is hidden Shadow Fashion Lounge and, once you walk inside, it becomes perfectly obvious where its name comes from. A stage with a piano is set in the centre of the place. Around the stage, all the 'shadowy' private rooms are equipped with wine-coloured, comfortable and massive couches. Candles provide an added mysterious, laid-back vibe.

Every night from 9:30 p.m. to midnight, live guitar and piano music is performed, with shows lasting until 1:45 a.m. The musical selection is pretty wide, including Western, Chinese and Taiwanese pop songs, and ranging from classic, older tunes to the latest, hottest hits. And, if you're in the mood for a request, the pianist is more than happy to oblige.

The minimum charge is NT$1,000, equal to the amount that a private room here costs. Hard liquor is specially promoted, with a wide range of brandies and whiskies (NT$4,000 to NT$60,000 per bottle) available. Vodka, gin and tequila are NT$4,000 a bottle. There are also many snacks to choose from.

Shadow Fashion Lounge takes pride in helping its guests relax and enjoy themselves with privacy, with curtained-off rooms a large part of this environment. As there are a limited number of rooms, be sure that you make an advance booking to enjoy the unique ambiance that Shadow offers.
