Come the weekend who isn't looking for a place to just get away? Just a stone's throw from the DaAn MRT station, head down a dim stairway and there you have it: Escape.
Walking into this subtly-lit spot is like walking into a welcoming living room of worn-in sofas, where you want to kick off your shoes and settle back. The muted colours and wooden furniture create a warming atmosphere. But sinking into the cosy cushions in intimate corners or sitting at the large central bar, and choosing a drink from the extensive menu is a harder choice still.

The impressive selection of whiskeys range from the American classic bourbons (NT$150/2,800 glass/bottle) to 18-year-old Pure Malts (NT$350-400/4,500-5,500).
Bottled beers range from a reasonable NT$150 to NT$220, and wines (sold by the bottle) reflect preferences from Europe, the Americas and Down Under. A large selection of spirits follows and, rounding it off, tempting cocktails. Most popular is the ever-stylish Cosmopolitan (NT$350), or a Vodka Redbull fresh fruit combo (NT$250) -- the essential ingredients of a good night and a healthy goodness to ease the conscience!

Starting this month, you can enjoy an earlier "escape", as food has also hit the menu from lunch onwards -- with meals showing a Middle Eastern flavour (NT$200-400) and homemade ice creams to ease the in heat warmer weather.
Music-wise, the week is given over to a lounge bar atmosphere, reflecting this with easy vibes and jazz. As the week winds down, the tempo winds up. Fridays get sexy with a salsa night, and Saturday is a mix of DJs, Hip Hop, dance and even rock parties, offering good opportunities to hit the dance floor.
