Whether you are a regular Taipei clubber or not, you probably are familiar with music restaurant EZ5 on AnHe Road. When entering, you are greeted with a lively atmosphere of live singing and music and the constant happy chatter of customers. The feeling is warm and friendly, which is a key reason EZ5 has been around for 15 years and is still going strong.

Small tables and chairs (for a total of about 150 people) surround the stage in the fairly small area. The seating here is packed quite tightly, with tall chairs and tables lined up against the walls. There is a small second-floor loft around the bar (where the DJ booth and lighting controls are) in addition to some box seats. It is not hard to imagine what this place is like when packed. However, the coziness closes the gap between stage and customers, so that an evening here listening to music often feels more like a private party. This atmosphere is heightened when singer Xiao Huang Qi takes the stage. His friendly, passionate performances get the audience involved and drive everyone at EZ5 wild.

While listening to singers Xiao and A Lin perform, I tried out the EZ5 cocktail specials; EZ Gentleman and EZ Lady. The former is a derivative of the Long Island Iced Tea, while the latter features the sweetness of melon liqueur.
Regular performers at EZ5 are all veteran singers, such as the well-known female vocalist Tiger Wong, and it is quite a blast to hear them perform in different languages and various styles. Audiences are often moved to sway or dance to the music. EZ5 features three live-music sets every night, at 9:45 p.m., 10:45 .p.m and 11:45 p.m. Performance schedules are available at EZ5. Entry tickets can be redeemed for two items, either drinks or snacks.
