Fancy
dancing the night away to Latin beats? Eating
a wide range of tasty Latin American food and
washing it down with a Cuba Libre or a refreshing
Margarita? No, you won't need a couple of weeks
off work and a lengthy flight. Simply take yourself
to Barrio, Taipei's own little piece of Latin
America, located on, Dunhua S. Road, Sec. 2.
Opened since February this year, Barrio is an
elegantly stylish bar/ restaurant/ club that offers
a great range of Latin food including Latino Sushi
( slices tortilla rolls with fillings such as
goat cheese and roasted peppers), Quesadillas,
Ensalada, Soft Tacos and Burritos, complete with
a delicious assortment of home-made salsa sauces.
With nothing on the menu priced above NT$280,
it is also very affordable.
They also have a great selection of drinks, including
an excellent range of cocktails (NT$150-300) and
a choice of Latin drinks. Priced at NT$250, these
include Cubra Libre, Margarita, Mojito, Sangria
and Pina Colada. Of course, you can also enjoy
a range of Scotch whiskies, vodka and beers. If
you're feeling especially in the mood (and, if
you're constitution allows it) you can go for
the simple but deadly shots of Tequila (ah....my
old friend).
While the food and drink contribute mightily to
the Latin feel of this place, it's the music and
dancing that seal the deal and make Barrio a great
night out. Those pulsatingly-sexy Latin 6 eats
will have you dancing in no time-whether it's
the DJ spinning from the extensive collection
at hand or a live band tapping into the Latin
spirit within you, you're sure to get into the
swing of things and dance the night away. And,
don't worry if you don't know how! Barrio also
provides lessons in the art of sexy, Latin dance
(contact Barrio for more information). Plus, Wednesday
is Ladies' Night, when the fairer sex get in free
and men only pay NT$350.
Every month, Barrio offers a full schedule of
special events and parties. October, for example,
featured a Special Salsa Party, a More Fashion
Night, a Salsa Halloween Party and much more.
Contact them now for what's coming up in November.
