Here
is place that I dreamed of once in a lullaby.
Club 75 is a laidback restaurant, bar, and lounge.
It's TienMu's best choice for head-nodding hot
music and hot dates. Club 75 features a DJ every
night of the week. Frenchman Romain Crozier leads
the way with sassy French House (Afro, Latin
and Arabian beats); other DJs like Brazilian
Rod rotate in and out during the week, and between
sets from the band that plays live on Friday
and Saturday nights.
The Club 75 house band, "Pasion Latina, con
Fuego y Alma"--its name should give you an
idea of the hot music to be heard here--is led
by inimitable music director and impresario Roberto
Zayas, and is a six-piece group that includes Xiao
Bai on drums.
Xiao Bai is considered Taiwan's hottest drummer
this side of Dino, who backs Wubai as part of China
Blue. Xiao Bai is currently touring with A-Mei,
but usually bangs the drums at Club 75. Then there
is Rick Taira, Taiwan's Latin legend on bass, trumpet,
and backing vocals. Check out his recent CD, now
on his own label Rat Records and available at Club
75, but soon to be re-released by Jingo Records.
Alec Haavik on sax will make you swoon with his
sweet, sad tunes. Danny Deyshaer on trumpet and
Hong Yi on percussion round out the band.
But the beat is not always thumping at 75. During
dinner--whether on the spacious outdoor patio or
in the comfy, cool restaurant--great Mediterranean
cuisine is to be had.
For the avant-garde among us, 75 is more then just
the source of crisp cool beats. The walls are festooned
with available art. Every item is cutting edge,
oriental in style, and produced by owner-operator
and cult personality in his own right, Patrick
Lee.
