Taipei
Sports Bar is a very welcoming conventional (i.e.
non-lounge) bar off AnHe Road, section 2, between
Carnegie's and XinYi Road. TS Bar provides a
comfortable setting with dark colors, a pool
table, friendly staff, plus some log cabin and
homey brickwork decorations above the bar. The
bartender, named Juvena, is excellent. Bottled
beers are NT$150-180; wine by the glass NT$200-250;
gin NT$150-200; Scotch from NT$200; soft drinks
mostly NT$100. Happy Hour is from 6 pm to 8 pm
weekdays, with all drinks NT$50 off normal price.
A food menu with an extensive appetizer selection
is also available. In particular, the Chicken
Quesadilla is meaty and tasty beyond its simple
appeasance. To all prices add a 10-percent service
charge. As a sports bar, most patrons will probably
cluster around the one huge flat-panel satellite
TV screen. This is a decent new watering hole,
well worth checking out.--By Peter Wright |
