The
Wall is a stronghold of independent music resources
for Live House, independent labels, and records.
It is Taiwan's newest rock & roll place, the
result of collaborative efforts of Formoz Festival
sponsor Freddy, A-ji of the band President (formerly
one of the owners of Scum), Spring Scream sponsor
Jimi, and several music industry pals. Taking
its name from Pink Floyd's 1979 classic rock album,
The Wall reflects rock's straightforward nature.
Covering nearly 300-pings with live performances
by various local and foreign bands, different
musical styles can be experienced here. Performances
are usually scheduled on Fridays, Saturdays, and
holidays; on other days various events are held.
The place can also be leased. Except for the performance
hall, Shiang-Wan Instruments, White Rabbit Records,
Orange Rock & Roll Boutique, a second-hand
effects processor, rock and roll tattoos, used
records, and Radish Records, have opened up shops
here. --By Selena Huang, translated by Yvonne
