Just
as Taipei's Grand Hyatt Hotel is a leader in its field,
the hotel's second-floor Ziga Zaga restaurant-bar-nightclub
is also of world-class caliber.
| World-renowned
restaurant interior designer Tony Chi created the
space in Ziga Zaga. Wooden paneling accented with
silver and lilac, orange lighting, metallic beaded
drapes hanging down from the ceiling, plus a crystal
chandelier, together provide dazzling rays in the
calm air. Fame Alley, a corridor by the window,
has four different sized semi-open booths partitioned
with translucent glass. These offer views of Taipei
at night, as well as a sensual image of overlapping
rays of light and figures. |

There
are also two bars, six colorful box sofas with round
tables, and several simple tables and benches. Anyone--regardless
of age, status, and needs--will be able to find a corner
that belongs to them.
At
mealtimes, Ziga Zaga imparts a different atmosphere
compared to late nights. The lighting and music can
transform the space and mood from a vivacious daytime
Italian restaurant to elegant and romantic dinner hours,
and then to a relaxing lounge saloon. Banal daytime
pressures are released by the live performances of renowned
bands, or music played by DJs.

Head Chef Kevin Chen recommends the Veal Ossobuco
With Saffron Risotto And Gremolata (NT$840); for
parties of two to four people, he recommends the
Italian Appetizer (NT$690), and Dessert Eztravaganza
(NT$640)--with a fragrant cup of coffee, martini,
cocktail, red or white wine--to end the meal. |
