Texound
was founded by DJs Tiger and Chin in 1998 as an electronic
dance music paradise. With its excellent sound system and
cutting edge music, it quickly became very popular with the
Taipei young dance crowd. The dance hall was also one of the
locations for a recent film by renowned director Hou Hsaio-hsian.
Last year this place closed down, but Texound has now reopened,
and is better than ever. The new establishment, like the old,
stands at the forefront of dance music and dance fashion,
and offers a place to see and be seen, to find liberation
and to even go a little bit crazy. The dance hall is divided
into the Main Room and the X-Bar, each with its own outstanding
DJ. On the third Friday of each month, Texound has a "Gaynight"
theme party (for example, a uniform party.) Regardless of
your sex or sexual orientation, if you like dancing, you'll
surely like this place. -- By Ken Lin
