       For the many regulars at My Other Place, the name is entirely appropriate - this relaxed pub is their home away from home or office.

      It's immediately apparent why many professionals (local and foreign) flock in for food or leisurely time out. Designed by the British owner of My Place (the actual source of the name), Teresa Chu (now boss of Saints & Sinners) and Ma-Li Tsu, it has an English-inspired comfortable look and feel. There are little twists, however, that make My Other Place unique. For example, like many pubs, My Other Place hangs pictures of happy patrons on the walls but with a subtle and surprisingly classy look - they serve as trim decoration where the walls meet the ceiling.

It is this attention to detail that sets My Other Place apart and that has forged its growth since it's founding in the mid-nineties. Another touch that strikes of home is the menu, drawing a decent lunch and evening crowd from the offices in the area. Of special note are the business lunches (NT$250), which include Steamed Seabass Thai Style, Spicy Linguine with Crab and Chicken Quesadilla.

      As the evening sets in, the dinner crowd migrates from the booths to the bar. The mood here is relaxed and unpressured. Many patrons are regulars, but seem happy to welcome new arrivals and casual drop-ins. Quite a few take advantage of the discounted drink prices between 2 pm and 9 pm, including a few doing business over late afternoon drinks.

      Like other pubs, the owner's personality sets the pace. My Other Place is comfortable and inviting. Drinking around town, I have heard several people note Ma-Li Tsu's friendliness and generosity when the conversation drifts to the topic of pubs - confirming my own impression. Ma-Li herself sets a goal of making her guests feel 'spoiled'.

      My Other Place is conveniently located just north of the corner of FuXing (FuHsing) North Road and MinSheng East Road, and not far from the ChungShan Middle School MRT stop.
