WHISKY--A
hidden nighttime escape in the heart of Taipei
By Ken Lin Translated by Melanie Hou
Most
first-timers come here with someone already familiar with
this place, and are usually as impressed with its secrecy
as I was. However, if you are a fan
of local cinema, you may already recognize WHISKY, as it sometimes
used as a movie location. I find the design, atmosphere and
trendiness of the clientele is very similar to the WHISKY
Lounge in the Paramount Hotel, New York.
One
unique feature of the WHISKY in Taipei is its lush garden.
The colorful and fragrant flower blossoms create a scene that
is usually only experienced outside
of the city limits.

The music they play here is mainly techno. On weekends,
there is a music critic for the internationally-respected
Rolling Stone magazine is the DJ. This is a great place
for enjoying tunes with a group of friends while sitting
on comfortable sofas. Try one of the house special cocktails
(NT$600), served in milk bottles, such as the strawberry-flavored
China Red or the lemon-flavored China White. It's not
uncommon to see celebrities or politicians here relaxing
with friends in the privacy of this hideaway. |

WHISKY
is located in the two-story, futuristic building next to Tequila
Sunrise. The giveaway to this secret place is the door with
a large number of fingerprints on it,
which stands out from the white walls surrounding it.
