Owned by the same company as Thai Town Restaurant, Very Thai Restaurant & Bar differs from Thai Town in that it doesn't have as many branch restaurants throughout Taipei. Open since 1995, it has finally launched a second branch at Sogo Department Store in Tianmu. Here, Very Thai introduces 10 new dishes, including new menu dessert items. These new, tasty dishes include Deep Fried Soft Shell Crab with Thai Sauce, Deep Fried Oyster with Thai Spicy Sauce, Pork Slices with Thai Dip, Spicy Fried Rice with Squid, and Banana Roll with Cheese and Coconut Ice Cream, as well as Mango Ice Cream. Thai cuisine lovers can also enjoy meals with Chang Beer from Thailand. These new, delicious items are more than enough reason to visit Very Thai. --By Josie Wu, translated by Ann Lee

A. The Deep Fried Seabass with Tamarind & Chili (NT$480) uses a fresh, wholesome seabass, which is fried it to a crusty texture and then topped with a unique sauce made from dried chilies. Its slightly sour and spicy flavor is quite appetizing, to the point where one person may be able to finish at least half the fish on their own!

B. The Thai Style Sausage (NT$300) is a popular dish that you can see on almost every table here. These handmade sausages are wrapped in fresh vegetable leaves and served with ginger slices, lemon wedges, red onions and chili peppers. The way to enjoy this dish is to eat the whole sausage in one bite, which is easy because they are cut into small pieces.

Very Thai Restaurant & BarC. There are as many as 30 different beer selections at Very Thai, including beers from Thailand, Australia, the U.S., Germany, England, Mexico, Belgium, Ireland, Denmark, or Switzerland.
