The majority of Yuma's Southwestern-style food is flame-grilled in the open kitchen and all the sauces are prepared in-house from scratch. Luckily for diners, owner Alan's (Alleycats founder) sharing concept makes this an excellent choice for meeting up with friends and family, as the menu is has extremely reasonable prices and, handily, features suggested menus for groups of up to eight for around NT$340/person. Plus, the portions are generous. There are also several vegetarian offerings with more in the pipeline. The decor is warm and welcoming and the fully bilingual staff is attentive and informed. --By Cat Thomas, translated by Ann Lee, photos courtesy of Yuma
A. Yuma's suggested menu for four (NT$340/person) includes Sierra Spinach Salad with baby spinach leaves, roma tomatoes, red onions, bell peppers and cranberries, served with cranberry and orange vinaigrette. Other items include Southwestern Rice; Roadrunner Nachos with shredded chicken, Monterey Jack cheese, jalapenos, corn salsa , sour cream, fresh cilantro and other ingredients; flame-grilled, finely-sliced Steak Fajitas; and a half-rack of Baby Back Ribs slow-roasted, then flame grilled, with a choice of three styles--Peri-Peri, cranberry and Honey and Dry Rub.
B. Porky's Pulled Wrap (NT$195) has pulled pork, Southwestern rice, romaine lettuce and corn salsa, drizzled with cranberry and honey sauce, wrapped in a corn tortilla. Wraps with chips and salsa are served between 12 and 5 p.m. Add a hearty soup for NT$30.
