After working at a Japanese tavern for several years, the owner of this restaurant decided to open up his own place with a friend. Though the entrepreneurs are only 25, they have a organized operation. Every day they offer five seasonal, off-the-menu dishes and every week they introduce at least three new plates. To keep customers and regulars aware of specials and promotions, the owners send out informative text messages. Most importantly, their portions are generous and their prices are one-third lower that other restaurants in the area. The waitresses wear kimonos, adding to the atmosphere of the place. Their Seared Beef Carpaccio (NT$260), served with a secret dipping sauce, is an all-time favorite of New York Yankee Wang Chien-ming, the pride of Taiwan. Spicy Tuna Tartar (NT$260), Stir-Fried King Oyster Mushrooms (NT$180) and Seafood Hot Pot (NT$480) are other tasty dishes here. --Written and translated by Diva, photos by Andy Lin
