The modern, fashionable restaurant known as 33 Gordon Road is located in Taipei's fancy east district. Though it is modern, you'll find a lot of old-fashioned dishes like Fried Bitter Squash, Ku Jin Gan Lai (NT$220), and One-Thousand Year-Old Egg with Chili Peppers (NT$180), a specialty dish from Hunan that's sprinkled with a unique Sichuan sauce for extra flavor. Other recommended dishes include Hot Spicy Duck Wings (NT$280) and Braised Dongpo Pork with Abalone Sauce, which is marinated in rice wine (NT$380). In May, 33 Gordon Road is offering a special promotion: if Spend NT$1,000 and receive NT$500 off of your meal. --By Sharon Huang, translated by Ann Lee, photos by Andy Lin
