The Chinese menu items at Shin Yeh's Table, located right inside the Tong-Ling Department Store, are listed in a somewhat rakish way, requiring your imagination to unlock what kind of dish each item is. The English menu, however, is pretty upfront. You can find Deep Fried Squid Roll (NT$120), Stir Fried Pork Intestine with Ginger (NT$160), Pan Fried Spicy Chicken (NT$160), Pan Fried Fragrance Turnip Cake (NT$160), and Fried Chicken Breast Bone (NT$220). --By Josie Wu, translated by Ann Lee

A. The names of Shin Yeh's table menu items seem to attract a younger crowd and, at the same time, make traditional Taiwanese foods seem more animated and trendy. The Steamed Baby Cabbage with Bacon (NT$160) is carefully prepared by the chefs. Bacon is added to this cabbage dish, bringing out its best flavor. The dish requires very little oil, in hopes of retaining the freshness and nutrients of the vegetables.

B. Steamed Salted Egg Yolk with Pork (NT$160) is made by using specially-selected pork and pickles, along with a salted egg yolk sauce. Shin Yeh's Table provides meals anytime throughout their opening hours, so you can banish your hunger pains whenever you want.
