General Manager Harald Baumann, whose family is in the hotel business in Austria, chose to launch his first Asian shop in Taipei. Baumann's Kaffee is an Austrian cafe that serves warm desserts made to order, guaranteeing freshness. As far as whether the flavours are authentic Austrian, Baumann jokes that he hired his chef from home, so it should be as good as it gets. --By Josie Wu, translated by Ann Lee

A. Harald holds the most popular Salzburg Muffin (NT$480). Time-consuming to make, it is usually only served at special attractions for tourists in Austria. The tip of this muffin resembles the peak of Salzburg Mountain. Strawberry sauce is poured on while it's hot. Limited quantities are sold daily and requires a 20-30 minute wait.

B. Caesar Pancake (NT$380 for 2), also called a Caesar Omelette, is an Austrian classic. Austria Fruit Curd Dumpling (NT$200) has berry jam on the bottom, is crispy on the outside, and rich and creamy inside. Melange Coffee (NT$110) is popular, or try the Espresso like most Austrians do!
