A.
The open-air set-up is perfect for breezy evenings
and gives you a great view of the moon over Elephant
Mountain on one side, and Taipei 101 on the other.
B. The
Black Pepper Pork (NT$100) is marinated for three
days with the chef's secret sauce, giving the
meat a tender quality and savoury flavour.
Although this barbecue eatery
is a bit off the beaten path, the owner chose
the location specifically for its surroundings.
It faces an open field and, with no large buildings
in the way, some peaceful mountain scenery in
the background makes for a pleasant change from
the rest of jam-packed Taipei. At Teng, you'll
see the owner sitting down for a quick bite with
some neighborhood buddies, perched on handmade
straw chairs (the name of the restaurant comes
from the material used to make these). With NT$90
Asahi draught beers and lots of fresh small eats
(starting from NT$60), you really can't go wrong
settling in for an inexpensive evening with friends.
