If you've been in Taipei for awhile,
you've heard about Wellman's. It's usually the
first import store new expats run to, besides
Costco. Wellman's is located in a prime spot on
ZhongShan North Road, near Taipei American School.
It's a popular place for both foreigners and locals
to pick up Western goods. You can find almost
anything at Wellman's -- they have a large variety
of cake mixes, cereals (the cheapest Grape Nuts
in Taipei), canned beans, crackers, cookies, Pop-Tarts,
potato chips, sodas and cheeses. You can also
find butterscotch chips, corn meal, American-style
brown sugar, Crisco, PAM cooking spray, tubs of
Cool Whip, applesauce, tortillas, graham cracker
crusts and Planter's peanuts. If you're on a diet,
you will be happy to find Slim-Fast mixes, whole
wheat flour, sugar-free jello and low-calorie
snacks. For Thanksgiving, be sure to stop by for
a turkey, some pumpkin pie filling, Pillsbury
pie crusts and French's fried onions for your
green bean casserole. Another reason to visit
is to read the large advertisement board outside
the store. Are you looking for piano lessons,
a new car, furniture or for a domestic helper?
Check the ad board; you just might find what you
need! |
