Yu-Shan-Ge provides an exquisite dining
experience. The interior is striking, incorporating
the modern, traditional and objects from nature. The
same attention is paid to their meals, which arrive
resembling works of art. Health is central to their
philosophy--all food is fresh, organic, prepared oil-free,
and uses known naturally healthy ingredients. I sampled
the Delicate Set Menu (NT$980), a tantalizing array
of nine dishes that leads you on a wonderful exploration
of flavours and textures: the smooth sesame of the "Invite
the Moon to the Clouds" dish, the superb tanginess
of the "Sweet Grass Vinegar", the intense
flavours of mushroom and the chewiness of the rice in
the "Lotus Leaf Pearl", and the sweetness
of fruit. Monkey Head Mushroom Patties in Black Pepper
Sauce were also much enjoyed! Set meals range from NT$580
to NT$2,780, and group meals are available for four
to 10 people (NT$2,800-6,000). Snacks like "Yu
Shan Grilled Pork Pastry"(NT$150) abound, and the
unique Di Zhen tea, a special healthy blend including
sweet potato and ginseng, is highly recommended.
