With a name like "Chicken Game",
this place might be mistaken for a games arcade. In
reality, chef and owner Eric just wanted to run his
business in a slightly more unconventional manner. Eric
and his chefs have put a lot of thought into the menu.
The Hua Diao Chicken is prepared with vintage Hua Diao
Wine from Puli and their own special sauce. The chicken
is soft and tender with hints of wine but not its sting,
and is best eaten with white rice or their homemade
flat noodles. The Tian Huang Hua Diao Chicken is prepared
with special native chicken meat that is chewier but
no less tender. The dish is slightly more expensive
but worth it. Eric has also prepared some unique and
creative dishes, such as the Caraway Sauce Fried Spareribs
(NT$200), made from Taiwanese black pork ribs stewed
for 48 hours in a sauce of ground cumin, green papaya
and 18 other spices. The Orange Vinegar Chicken Leg
(NT$200) is prepared with de-boned chicken leg meat
marinated in their own orange vinegar sauce, and has
a crispy outer layer and sweet and sour tender inner
layer. --By Shanzi Chen, translated by Cara Steenstra |
