Spice Market is yet another great restaurant brought to you by the Grand Formosa Regent Taipei Hotel. Situated inside the new Eslite bookstore building in XinYi District, this sixth-floor "House in a House" concept, stand-alone wooden villa restaurant is so unusual that it makes everyone want to go in and take a closer look. The villa itself seats eight to 16 people and is decadently decorated with colorful Thai silk cushions, spice containers and luscious green Asiatic plants, exuding a romantic neo-Thai style. The five-meter-high ceiling and the restaurant's slightly above-ground location gives dining in this villa an extra-majestic feeling. Spice Market is the first place to offer a Thai-style seafood buffet, accompanied by plenty of imported chili peppers, curry, fish sauce, shrimp pastes, coconut milk and other spices, as well as ginger, lemongrass, lemon leaves, coriander, and menthe leaves. Altogether, there are over 70 choices, a superb, fresh combination of sweet, sour, spicy, savory flavors. You can also try the Papaya Salad, Drunken Shrimp, Deep Fried Spicy Chicken, Thai Curry or the Moon Shrimp Cake.
