If you've walked past this place, you've
most likely pressed up against the windows to get a
closer look. Toast's interior, with it's Parisian photographs,
painted-white everything and minimalist wooden block
tables really makes one feel like this could be an artist's
studio or a New York loft apartment. Toast's signature
dish is, indeed, toast -- an open-faced sandwich piled
high with creative mixes of ingredients (who ever knew
eggs could go with peanut butter?). Their salads are
quite tasty and big enough for a meal. Both the toasts
and the salads (NT$200-220) come with a daily soup that
is so lovely it becomes yet another reason to go back.
The menu also features specially flavored lattes and
smoothies (NT$150), and a weekday afternoon tea. Since
the owner is a designer himself, Toast displays a small
artist's exhibition each month so the walls are always
visually engaging. This new bistro/lounge bar is perfect
for a long afternoon spent sipping on white chocolate
latte and poring over their awesome magazine collection
or a quiet evening spent waxing philosophical over some
French wine.
