Although XiMenDing is known for its cheap snacks, it also boasts some pretty good eateries. Only a two minute walk from the MRT station is a traditional Chinese-style hot pot and Japanese grill. This place is hard to miss -- when you see red light pouring from the inside of the restaurant, you know you've come to the right place. Chinese-style lanterns bathe the entire restaurant with a warm, red ambience, while brighter lighting at each table allows you to focus on your food and friends. Unique lighting, however, isn't the draw -- the all-you-can eat meals are. For a set price ($299 for lunch, $399 for dinner), you can enjoy unlimited amounts of meat, vegetables, fruit, ice cream, and salad. Hot pot enthusiasts can decide between the 20 different varieties of soup, and grill enthusiasts will jump at the chance to barbeque their own food on a charcoal grill. Big Jade Gate already has 2 restaurants -- one in Taipei County and one in Taoyuan. They have ambitious plans to open quite a few more in the next year or two, so keep your eyes peeled for the restaurant with the radiating red lights.
