From the moment you walk into Genkai Sushi, your attention is drawn towards the chefs, who are completely focused on making sushi, and the long conveyor belt carrying dish after dish of delectable sushi that you just can't wait to try. The restaurant, a combination of a beer house and conveyor-belt sushi that is trendiest for restaurants in Japan right now, exudes an air reminiscent of old Edo and Kyoto. The friendly, humorous owner, Yoshihiko Maruyama, claims to be a third-generation seaman and says he opened the restaurant so that he could have a couple of drinks anytime he wanted. And, because he imports seafood, he has access to the freshest sea produce. Just as in Japan, he has also imported and installed UV disinfectant equipment for his conveyor belt sushi. As for sushi prices, the conveyor belt sushi dishes range from NT$30 to NT$120 a plate and beer house dishes start at NT$80. One might want to try the succulent Bigeye Tuna, the sweet Botan Shrimp, the tender Yellowtail Head, Anago (konger eel), and the Assorted Sashimi (four-person serving NT$1,980). The delicious food here attracts foreign visitors and connoisseurs from all over, including Japan.
