Newly opened in May, Huang Ting Restaurant
is part of the group which also runs the Yuan Yuan Yuan
Tea House, although its style is entirely different
from that establishment's. Every item in the restaurant,
including the imitation Ming-dynasty furniture, wooden
carvings, stone carvings, floor tiles and pillars, has
been imported from Beijing. The entire restaurant is
decorated in a classic Chinese style; even the bathrooms
have been done up very nicely. Gardens, water fountains,
winding corridors and a decorated archway in and around
the building all add to the elegant atmosphere, making
you feel as if you were dining in a distinguished family
home back in the "old days". Huang Ting's
biggest specialty is Taiwan's one and only "Authentic
Jiang Xi Soup Stewed in an Earthenware Pot", which
is prepared with ancient stewing methods learned by
the owner under very special circumstances. A number
of these huge earthenware pots sit at the entrance of
the restaurant. The stewed soup is prepared in these
pots over a coal fire, allowing the soup to slow-cook
for as long as eight hours, creating a delicious broth
that brings many diners back for more. There are also
live deep-sea fish, unique home-style cooking, a variety
of fried dishes, dim sum and much more, making this
is an ideal place for gourmands to sample classic Chinese
cuisine.
