Around the Taipei Railway Station and the cram school district, there are lots of snack shops and restaurants here, but Hong Kong-style“yum cha”restaurants are rare. In early May, Tsim Sha Tsui HK Restaurant opened its doors in a basement premises on HanKou Street. The interior is simply decorated, with unadorned square wooden tables and chairs evoking an air of traditional dim sum restaurants. The restaurant seats around 130 people, and is available for private parties at no extra charge. Manager Raymond Wu said that his restaurant insists upon the freshest ingredients, authentic Hong Kong-style flavors, reasonable prices and friendly service. Foreigners are most welcome here because the staff speaks English, too. This was also the first dim sum place to introduce the Mixed-Sauce Zhu Chang Fen to Taiwan. There are 50 dim sum choices in this restaurant, priced between NT$50 and NT$125, and 30 kinds of stir-fried dishes, priced between NT$120 and NT$160. All dishes are steamed and fried when the order is placed to ensure freshness. The specially-priced dim sum set comes as Set A (NT$250), with five small and medium dim sum items; Set B (NT$350) offers five medium and large dim sum. The Fresh Bamboo Roll with Oyster Sauce and Fu Zhu Beef Balls come highly recommended.
