One word describes Schwarzwald: pride. Nothing escapes the attention of its owner, petite Su Ying Chou, who started the business 11 years ago. There is only one Schwarzwald, she says. Please accept no imitations! From the decor to the desserts, there is the same loving attention to detail. I sampled the Mixed Sausage Plate (5 kinds) (NT$340), the Cordon Bleu with Garlic Butter Rice (NT$280) and the Special of the Day, Baked Pork Rib with Caramel Sauce. Specials change daily with over 400 different dishes available. I tried to sample the Pork Knuckle with Mashed Potatoes and Sauerkraut (NT$400 small/NT$600 large) but, once I started, I couldn't stop! All House Specials as well as the family menus (4-6 people NT$2,050, 7-8 people NT$3,050) include soup, 2 slices of Schwarzwald German whole wheat bread, coffee or tea and a slice of German fruitcake for each person. For those with a sweet tooth, there is a wide range of German cakes which can be ordered whole to take home.
