Bongos is a new restaurant in the Shida area. Andrew (a Canadian) and Debby, his Taiwanese girl friend, opened Bongos two months ago. The restaurant is divided into three parts: the dining room, the lounge/arty room, and the spacious patio where plants and wood surround the tables for a totally relaxing experience. Pricing is very reasonable. A bottle of house wine is NT$799 and San Miguel beer is NT$100. They also feature Belgian beers. The menu is of a Western variety with fish and burgers from NT$160, Mexican food and Italian pastas for NT$180, and German sausages for NT$160. Andrew does all the cooking and prepares some excellent home made sauces for all the meals. Andrew's secret: use only fresh ingredients. On some Sundays, live violin and banjo performances can be heard. So keep Bongos in your mind for your next brunch, or for a romantic date. --By Romain Cozier, translated by Uvia Chang
