Gelato done the right way is what Tony Neilly has to offer in a little shop in the new market surrounding the Red Theater. Tony should know, as he is the son of an ice cream maker and himself a licensed churner from the Penn State Ice Cream School (USA). All of the gelato is made fresh on site and is of the finest quality, with his unique techniques and imported Italian machines. There are some 32 flavors listed on his menu but the options are limited only by creativity. A single, large American-sized scoop is NT$80. Five scoops, complete with complimentary sprinkles and whipped cream or other toppings, are NT$199; a 14-scoop party plate is NT$500. The shop will soon add quality American hot dogs, burgers and fries to the menu. Tony also offers ice cream making classes for 12 people for NT$300 per person. --By Joe Duffer, translated by Cara Steenstra
