Walk up the 106 stone steps of Lane 14 and you will see a Victorian-style three-story red building located a ways into an old Danshui alley. This building was renovated in January 2000 and appears like a red brick cloister. These two features make Red Castle a unique location in Danshui. Various Chinese dishes are served on the first and the second floors, with ingredients collected from all over the place, thus providing customers with the most genuine Chinese food. The menu will be adjusted every season according to the customers¡¦favorites. This season, Steamed Fried Beef Strips with Meilin Sauce and Codfish Liver, and Chinese Yam Salad are highly recommended. The Chinese restaurant was renovated not long ago, giving it a graceful, ancient Chinese atmosphere. The second floor is designed as a Banquet Hall and serves as a place for family and group reunions, as well as for weddings. The third floor is a coffee bar. After enjoying delicious Chinese food, don't forget to go to the top floor to enjoy some coffee and deserts as well as the beautiful Danshui view. In addition, a Tea Bar was set up outside the first floor last month, giveing customers another option apart from coffee. --By Leslie Tseng, translated by Clint Munkholm.
