"I'd come here just for the tea," was overheard recently from a satisfied patron enjoying the restaurant's signature Rosella tea. Great tea is only one of the reasons to visit Bian Tian Zhuang, which was named for the owner's father. Opened 22 years ago in Chiayi, Bian Tian Zhuang now has two Taipei locations, this one near the RongXing Garden, and another in Taipei County's Yonghe. The menu combines Jiangsu and Zhejiang cuisines, but includes some Taiwanese delicacies. Waiters and waitresses dressed in black uniforms provide excellent service. Prices are reasonable, and the family-style food both looks and tastes delicious. Try the Dried Root With Beef And Sesame Seeds (NT$280), Shrimp And Asparagus (NT$300), or the Pumpkin And Eggs (NT$220). The Fish Noodle Soup (NT$90) is a local favorite, along with the Shrimp Dumplings (NT$180). And don't forget the tea! --By Rachel Sawatzky, Translated by Uvia Chang
