Being at Lugang Nostalgic Old Theater Restaurant is like traveling back in time to our favorite childhood dime store. It is easy to mistake this place for an old-time theater with the old-fashion movie billboard hanging above the door. The interior is reminiscent of Taiwan in the 60s with the circular dial red public phone, soda pop candies, marbles, vintage billboards, and old horseshoes to take you back. Older customers come to relive the past while the younger customers come to feel a bygone era.
The restaurant offers authentic Taiwanese dishes rich in traditional feel. Taro Spareribs (NT$200), Teppan Stinky Tofu (NT$160), and Fragrant Egg (NT$160) are grandmother's dishes straight from the kitchen. There are also the traditional Grandma's Sour Plum Drink (NT$80/cup and NT$180/pot), Four-Ingredients Tea (NT$100) or Rose with Four-Ingredients (NT$120). This is a great place to sample the old-fashion Taiwanese dishes. --By Ken Lin
